Frequently asked questions

“We learn more by looking for the answer to a question and not finding it than we do from learning the answer itself.” Lloyd Alexander

Do I have to pay for my staff's tax and national insurance?
Most certainly! Tax and NI must be paid. They are also entitled to holiday pay and it is likely that some of your staff will need sick pay at some time. Certain staff might need maternity pay and everyone will expect a state pension when they retire. Feel free to ask any of our staff for more information on these points.

Do I need to provide them with a contract?
Yes! For your protection, and theirs, a contract is essential. Written proof is valuable if the job specification is questioned. We always suggest that a contract is signed on commencement of employment and we can provide you with a draft one if you do not have your own version already.

Do I need to provide the couple with separate accommodation?
On the whole, yes. The better the accommodation, happier the staff will be happier and the longer they will stay. Separate accommodation tends to mean more privacy for both employer and employee.

Should I provide meals for my staff?
Yes. If they live in your staff should be given three meals a day. If they live-out then they should have meals while they are working for you. We always say if you keep your staff happy they will stay and providing meals and little extras all help!

Can your cleaners also do ironing?
Yes. It is part of the job. All our Cleaners can iron extremely well. They not only leave your house spotless but can do all the work shirts and other bits of ironing that most of us dread.

How much do I pay my cleaner per hour?
A cleaner is paid £9 per hour and up to £5 towards their travel expenses.

Do you belong to a professional organisation?
Yes, we are active members of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) which is the main recruitment organization in Britain.
