Gardeners will work part-time or full-time, depending on the size and needs of your grounds. Many gardeners also double-up as handymen and general maintenance in large properties. They might oversee the swimming pool and tennis courts, mend machinery and do minor electrical and carpentry work. Some will chauffeur their employers and do school runs as well.

Generally, though, the gardener will be in charge of all garden maintenance including mowing, greenhouse work, planting, hedge-trimming and weeding. Many gardeners also have experience and training in garden design and can plan the look of your gardens for you or with you.
